The Tak Shina Kanada Auto rickshaw Drivers Association has opposed Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan’s order to allow electric, methanol and ethanol-based auto rickshaws to operate throughout the district.

Expressing concern, association President B. Vishnumurthy and Chief Secretary Satish Kumar said, “Allowing electric tricycles to cross the Dakhina Kannada district will lead to clashes among tricycle drivers. DC shall immediately rescind the order. A meeting should be held with RTA officials to consider everyone’s views before making a decision. Otherwise, pedicab drivers will protest. “We have contacted Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy by phone and he has assured us that appropriate action will be taken.”
